Day 5 - Discipleship

Christian Hallman

“Discipleship” is the process of becoming a disciple, a follower, or a student of some philosophy, particularly a follower of Jesus Christ. If you’ve grown up in church or you’ve read the Gospels, you’ll find that the first 12 followers of Jesus were called the 12 Disciples. As you grow and live your life with Jesus, you become a disciple of Him, meaning you learn His teachings and put them to work in your life.

Here at Ascend, we want to help disciple or teach you, so that you can grow faster and deeper in God. As Christian says in the video, the number one way we do this is HUBs! HUBs are our small groups that allow you to discuss real topics and questions and get real answers. In HUBs, you’ll get a biblical perspective from your HUB leader, but you’ll also get to hear from other students to see how they’re processing things at the same time you are.

Other options for in-depth discipleship we offer are internship & the ASCEND Student Serve Team. Internship runs seasonally, so keep an ear out for announcements regarding internship. Serving is available year-round, and it gives you a chance to plug-in and either learn or use practical skills while being around other Christians who encourage and can have real talk with you on a weekly basis. Serving at Ascend can including the media team, the worship team, photography/videography, drawing/graphic design, set-up and tear-down team, etc.

TRY THIS: Take the next step in growing as a Christian and be discipled - head over to the "Plug In" tab under Students to fill out the application and start serving in ASCEND! Joining the Student Serve Team is a great way to be discipled.

PRAY THIS: God, show me an area where I can serve so that I can continue to grow in my walk and be discipled. I know you have called me to make a difference and not just sit back... so help me to take the next steps in my walk with you. Amen.
