WHY CHURCH FOR MY STUDENT?

Why should you bring your students to youth service and not just count Sunday’s as your students only time with the church? Student ministry isn’t game nights, awesome events and a so called watered down presentation of the gospel. It’s not just a good place to hang out if you have nothing better to do or a place to send your kids if you happen to be free that night. Time is invested and every detail is thought through so that when your student walks into the building on student nights… they encounter Jesus.
We’ve come away thinking of church as an option when in reality, now more than ever we need the church. Not as a building but a community.

SO WHY SHOULD YOU BRING YOUR STUDENT TO YOUTH SERVICE?
+ Students need community.
 We need each other and even more so our students need other students and godly influences in their lives.

+Students need a safe place to talk and get godly advice.
The best part of this, we are for your family! Always pointing areas out in students where THEY need to grow.

+Students need a place to learn about Jesus at their level with discussion topics based on things they are dealing with… right now.

+Students need their parent to hold them accountable to church.
Here are the stats…

86% of students said they don’t attend cause they are just too busy… and 41% said it’s cause of the lack of interest from family/parents.

Barna reports also showed the main struggle for youth ministry is parents not prioritizing students spiritual growth.

Yet 82% of parents said it was very important to help their student develop a faith and walk with Christ that lasts into adulthood.

SO WHERE DO I START?

* Church is not optional it’s an important ingredient to our walk
Realize the importance and have conversations with your student about the importance. Give them the why behind the what.

* Lead the way
You cannot expect something from your student that you unwilling to do yourself. If this has been an area where you have struggled, let's face it... we all have. Have humility, talk with your student and ask them to forgive you for not leading the way with this. Then... lead the way.

* When push back, stay consistent
Lets be honest. This probably wont come without push back from your student. That's okay. Stay consistent. Stay humble and don't back down.

* Be involved
Ask questions - What did you learn? What did you walk away challenged to do or change?
