Elijah & the Queen

Elijah is known for some pretty crazy moments in the Bible. He saw God send fire and destroy the prophets of Baal, and he raised a widow's son back to life. Even a man that saw incredible moments of God's power was struck terrified and powerless by the queen, Jezebel (1 Kings 19:1-10). At City Week, many students see God's power and experience His presence, but when they come home, they let external influences subdue them into defeat.

1. Her words will make you QUIT - Verse 4

- As soon as Elijah hears the word that Jezebel wants him dead, he goes into a dead depression.

- The enemy is quick to bring up your old sin and accuse you with it or to tempt you with what used to be hard for you to battle.

2. Her words will make you QUESTION.

- We see that Elijah gets this word from Jezebel and question his own life, because she was so confident.

- We have to remind yourselves of the Lord's faithfulness and power when (not if) the questions come.

3. Her words will QUENCH.

- The words the enemy brings will extinguish what God has told you.

- Don't let the enemy's voice steal or extinguish what God has done and is doing in your life.

God is so Gracious to Elijah and to us. He doesn’t address the mess we think we are in - He provides for us. He doesn’t deal harshly with us - he shows us his glory. He doesn’t allow us to disqualify ourselves - He gives us direction to continue.
