Producing Your Own Sound
When I think of someone in the Bible who was intimate with Christ, I often think of David. His ability to be vulnerable with God allowed him to walk in a deep intimacy that many people today find hard to access. The Bible even refers to him as “a man after God’s own heart.”
When I picture intimacy with Christ, I see myself sitting at a simple wooden table across from Him, just talking. I share my day, my struggles, my weaknesses, and my triumphs—while He listens, reassures me, encourages me, and gives me strength.
Revelation 3:20 says that God knocks at the door of our hearts, and that if we tune our ears to the sound of His voice and open the door, He will come in and dine with us. This is such a beautiful picture — it reveals the depth of God’s love for His people and His desire to be close to us.
You have a unique sound, and that sound is only produced through an intimate relationship with Christ. Christ is the Lover of our souls, and just as a lover longs to know his bride, Christ—the Groom—craves closeness with us, His Bride.
We must choose daily discipline to spend time with Christ—not out of guilt or religious obligation, but from a place of understanding that He loves you so deeply. He wants to show you how to walk like Him and talk like Him.
As your personal sound—your relationship with Him—grows, He will begin to cultivate that same growth in those around you. Together, we will produce one unified sound as the Body of Christ.
QUESTION FOR TODAY: What’s a way that you can be vulnerable with the Lord today?
PRAY THIS:
Dear God, I pray that You would show me the love that You have for me. I want to know Your heart - not what religion has tried to define You as but who You truly are. Show me how You crave to be close to me, and show me how to be vulnerable with You today. Amen.
TRY THIS:
Turn some worship music on, grab your journal, and simply begin to journal your thoughts as a prayer to God and then ask Him to speak to you. Read a few verses of the Bible that talk about His love for you.
