There is More
So often after a big encounter moment like City Week, we can fall into thinking that this is the deepest we can go. If we’re not careful, we can find ourselves trying to replicate a moment rather than seeking the more God has for you. In Galatians 6, the Bible tells us don’t grow weary in well doing, for in due season, we shall reap if we do not lose heart. God may have a new sound coming to you or a word that is going to lead you deeper into knowing His voice if we continue to seek Him.
The encounter isn’t where it stops. So often we put our memories of this time so high up, that our expectation quickly dwindles after we go home. Maybe you feel like the busyness has kept you distracted, and it feels like you can’t get back to that place. Are you ready to take what you have received and allow it to take root in you so that you don’t lose your progress? As you begin to go deeper in the Word of the Lord, you can begin to recognize His voice speaking to you. He is ready to speak to you, and it might sound different than what you have known before. He might have a deeper depth for you to lean into.
Now don’t get me wrong, hanging on to that memory can feel like everything. Especially when it’s that specific sound from Him that you will never forget. Those moments that mark us, the line-drawn-in-the-sand moments, can be the memory that changes everything for you. He is always a good God. You can hear that sound in the quiet, you can hear it in the chaos, you can hear it when you’re tired… Are you positioning yourself to? Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight yourself in the Lord and will give you the desires of your heart”. He knows what you’re after. Delight yourself in Him. There is a sound for you and from you that He has ready if we’re listening.
QUESTION FOR TODAY: Are you positioning yourself in a way to hear what He is speaking to you? He wants you to hear it.
PRAY THIS:
Jesus, I thank You that You are always good. I thank You for Your voice. I pray for my heart to be positioned toward You. Draw me to Your spirit with ears sensitive to listening for You. May I receive a new glimpse of the depth of Your Spirit each day. May You be what my heart seeks in the morning and longs for before I go to bed. Thank You Jesus for Your presence in my life. In Jesus name, Amen.
TRY THIS:
Set aside 5 minutes to position your heart to be listening to Him. After you have prayed and read His Word, ask God to speak to you and then wait… and listen to what He is speaking. Maybe it’s something for today, or maybe it’s a seed for something bigger in your future that He is placing in you.
