The Sound isn’t Noise - It’s Kingdom

Analysa Fullam

City Week was wild. God moved. You felt it. The presence. The tears. The worship. The moments you knew He was real and near. But now what?

The week’s over. You’re back home. Life's louder again—maybe even confusing. So, here’s the question: Can you still hear it? The sound?

Because fire doesn’t just burn—it makes a sound. You can hear it crackle, roar, whisper. It’s alive, dynamic, moving… Just like your walk with Jesus. What you experienced at City Week wasn’t just a moment—it was ignition. Now it’s time to carry that sound beyond the week, into the everyday. Into your room. Your car. Your friendships. Your school. That sound—the one that stirred your soul—isn’t gone. You just have to tend the fire in your heart… daily.

So how do you keep the fire going when you don’t feel it or hear it anymore?

Let’s get practical. Because a real fire…

It needs fuel.

It needs oxygen.

It needs attention.

And so does your walk with Jesus.

Here are a few ways to carry the sound:

MAKE TIME, NOT EXCUSES

Set aside time to talk to Jesus daily. Not perfect prayers—just honest ones. Ask Him to speak, and then be quiet and take time to practice hearing His voice. Write down what you feel in your heart and allow Him to speak to you. Fire has a sound—but so does His voice, and His voice is what will fuel you.

REPLAY THE MOMENTS

Write down one thing God said or did during City Week. Keep it somewhere close. On your mirror, your phone lock screen, your car dashboard, your Bible. Go back to it when you start to feel your heart slipping or your fire dwindling.

GET A FIRE CREW

You weren’t made to be alone - Find a few friends who are chasing after God like you are and put distance between you and the ones who are not. Hold each other up. Call each other out. Pray for each other.

TURN YOUR MUSIC INTO FUEL

Your playlist feeds your fire. The fastest way to kill what God did at City Week is to go back to the things that reintroduce you to what God asked you to lay down. Worship doesn’t stop after the altar moment—it is a lifestyle that goes beyond the church walls. So put worship on and fill your mind with what fuels your spirit.

SERVE SOMEBODY

The fire grows when you take it out of it’s confined guardrails. Your fire isn’t meant for just church days or to keep to yourself… it’s meant to spread. So join the Student Serve Team and get connected. Look for someone who needs encouragement and share your City Week story. God did something in you… now put action to what you learned!

Question for Today: Where can you hear the sound of God's fire in your life right now—and how can you turn up the volume?

Pray This:

Jesus, I don’t want City Week to just be a memory of all the fun times. Help me carry the sound of Your fire into the quiet, into the normal, into the hard times of my life. Teach me to recognize Your voice and Your presence in every moment. Show me areas I can grow in and put people around me who will push me closer to You. Give me boldness, consistency, wisdom, and courage to carry the sound. I’m all in. In Jesus name, Amen.

Try This:

Spend 10 minutes today with worship music on—no distractions, close your eyes if you have to. Just listen. Ask God to let you hear the sound of His voice. Then… wait. You will feel His presence calm your heart, and He will speak.
