Faith in the Ordinary

Denise Cruz

City Week is a time when we intentionally step away from the noise of the world and tune into what God is doing in and through us. It’s about starting each day by seeking His presence, His voice, and His direction. Through worship, prayer, and community with others, we create space for real connection with God and each other. We’re reminded of our gifts, our callings, and even our struggles. It’s during this time that walls come down, truth is revealed, and breakthrough begins.

But what happens after it’s over? Does the fire lose its flame once the moment passes? Do we carry that hunger into our everyday ordinary lives?

The truth is, staying on fire for God isn’t effortless. Life gets complicated, and distractions creep in. That’s why intentionality matters. Hold on to what you experienced; the worship moments, the prayers you wrote, the scriptures that spoke to you, the impact God made through you in this time. Surround yourself with people who are moving in the same direction. Keep doing the small things that stirred your heart toward God. You won’t always feel passionate; faithfulness is a daily CHOICE.

QUESTION FOR TODAY: Who around you might need simple encouragement or quiet support today?

PRAY THIS:

Heavenly Father, thank You for always being here with me and teaching me through the power of the Holy Spirit. Give me the discipline to seek You daily and the courage to say “yes” to You even when it’s hard. Help me carry the fire of Your presence into every part of my life. In Jesus name, Amen.

TRY THIS:

Music is powerful; it can move us, like getting hyped at an event, pushing through at the gym, or remembering a movie because of a certain song. What if we allow that same power to draw us closer to God? I challenge you to take 10 minutes of your favorite worship music and let the Holy Spirit stir your heart. As you listen, begin to thank Him for your day, for His goodness, and for His blessings.
